Transaxle rebuilding question

Hi!

On my last stage putting my 911T 2.0 1969 back together I run into a question regarding my transaxles.
In the overview picture one can see the extra spring washer (bottom middle (green arrow)
This ring was in the assembly as I took it apart many years ago.
In the second picture one can see the markings from where is was mounted in the assembly (red arrows).

It is a 901 dog leg transmission with transaxles from ’69.
All the exploded views I saw there was no (spring) washer…….

Anyone any idea?
(hope so ;-)

Regards,
Bart

Those look like the spring washers that go on the shaft first (cup side towards the CV) but I don't know what would have caused that wear pattern as that's the side of the washer that would be against the CV.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for quick reply!
Do you got/know exploded view!?
So washer will spring load cv, must be difficult to add 'lock ring' any advice?
Cheers,
Bart

Yes. You may need to push down hard to get the circlip ("lock ring") in. Before you start, use a brass brush to remove all crud in the grooves and slot. Test slide the CV joint and be sure it moves fully onto the axle. Put the C cup on, then put the circlip on with flat edges towards the CV (look closely and note the way the circlip was stamped - one side/edge sharp, the other not).

Hey guys,

As a Dutchie I maybe misinterpreted the answers....
Maybe this helps clarify.

[1] axle
[2a] spring washer (spherical/convex side down) (that will also explain wear patterns on spring washer side touching CV)
[2b] spring washer (spherical/convex side up)
[3] CV
[4] circlip

So the order to mount is:
1-2a-3-4

Does everyone agree on that?

Thanks again,
Bart
