Installed replacement dash pad, gap to vent doesn't appear right

So I finally got to put in my "new" dash pad today. I had to elongate the two fasteners holes that are behind the speedometer and tachometer. Once those bolts lined up, it went in fairly smoothly. My problem is, the gap in the picture of the vent doesn't appear to be right. Were there inconsistencies in the molding? If you look closely, you an see one of the holes under the dash in the metal pan. If your rotate your laptop or tablet or stand on your head while viewing the first pic, you get a better feel for how it looks. Sorry! I should have rotated that pic before I posted.

Also, while installing I thought of a new book for Wayne if he's looking for suggestions. "101 yoga positions every Porsche owner should know" Or, "101 contortions every Porsche owner should master", either way. Thinking of the valve adjustment on this car, 4 or 5 might be necessary for that one project. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1397510578.jpg

Some flat black spray paint and you will never notice it.
