A little Rust!
:eek:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1397520496.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1397520523.jpg Took my car in for a clutch and to have oil leaks fixed while engine is out! New exhaust isn't going to happen like planned! Front main Rear Main Both sides of the Trans need seals 2-3 sensors Major tune up Adjust the valves And a whole new pan has to be put in due to a leaky battery or leaky batteries over the years. Time for an Optima. Oh ya, also has a pinched oil line under the drivers door due to someone not jacking it up right! My Dad was the previous owner and never did much of anything to it besides drive. Lol. They said all in all car is in great shape.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1397520950.jpg |

Double posted same pic, sorry. |
Did you say coolant leak?
Ya, I did! I guess I'm a little overwhelmed right now! Lol. Oops!
Just a tip because I just ran into this, but make sure you check your positive and negative battery cables. PO on my car had a battery leak and switched to an Optima Red Top but didn't clean up the mess in the pan. I cleaned it up and treated it with POR-15 a couple of years ago and thought all was good. The cables looked fine so I never thought about it, but recently I was tracking down another problem. I just happened to catch a glimpse of greenish color where the outside insulation of the positive wire butted up against the terminal end. Peeled it back and found that the inside of the positive cable was heavily corroded! I cut it back about and inch and a half to get to clean copper and put on a new terminal end.

Hard to tell with that picture but it looks pretty nice. What year?
87, engine was pulled today. Made a special trip down to see the battle wounds. Has 91k on it, first major service it's had in 15 yrs. Said they should be about 2 weeks, no big deal since it's going to SNOW tonight! Lol. 2 to 3 inches tonight per the wife's forecast, unless she's pulling my leg.
tirwin, will make sure to look at cables! Makes sense. Thanks!
If ya don't mind my asking, what kind of quotes are you getting on pan replacement? Pan in our future soon too :(
Sent from my XT907 |
Nice car. Weird weather today, so you're right he isn't missing any quality road time.
Make sure to replace the fuel lines on the engine.
Looks like that fix won't be too bad up front. Hope it's only on 1 side. |
Looks like my car, except a little worse. What amazes me is that it's still driveable with the torsion bar there. I have seen countless pics of this rust, but it seems that the torsion bar support never rips out all the sheet metal???
I was quoted $2000. To replace the pan but turned out to be a little more. After everything was said and done, It turned out to be a tad over 12k! Let's just say this is now a well sorted car!!
Wait, did it cost you 12k to have that fixed, or did you get the whole car painted as well?
Rust was around $2500. Had many other things taken care of.
That's good, I think some would read this as it cost you 12 g's to have just the pan done.
Inquiring minds want to know, what was done for $12k?
New Clutch
Basically every seal that can leak oil Front and rear Trans seals Major tune up Adjust valves Repair rust Repair crushed oil lines All new BB exhaust New Yellow top battery The list goes on, I should post a pic of the bill!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402787882.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402787909.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402787927.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402787951.jpg |
