Hockey puck restoration instructions

Hi all. I have a hockey puck horn button that has been disassembled. Together with it, I have new embossed leather, but don't know how to install it properly. Can anyone tell me how to install new leather on these things? Should the pad be glued down? Do you glue down only the edge, or the whole thing? Should there already be foam on the underside of the leather, or is foam added as a part of the installation? Thanks for the help.

No one has ever restored a hockey puck horn button? I'm sure someone must know the proper way to replace the leather. Anyone, please?

First you'll need to remove the metal trim ring that hold the leather in. It's held in by a number of tabs underneath that are bent inward to fasten the ring in place. Bend all of these back up. You'll probably have to push the tabs with something one at a time to get them to pop out and release the ring from the plastic puck. With the ring out, you can glue in your new embossed center. You need the foam backing. I don't know whether the centers come with it or not, but without it nothing looks right. Glue the whole thing in so that it won't shift around. But don't go too heavy with the glue or you risk the center getting too firm and losing its shape. As the saying goes, installation is the reverse of removal.
Hope that helps!
- Matt
