Question for owners of RoW '73 911T with M470 (Comfort Equip)
Hello,
I am trying to determine the correct (as delivered) fuel tank for my RoW 1973 911T with the "Comfort Equipment" (M470) option (yes, I have the CoA). In case you are wondering, I received the car with no fuel tank. According to PCNA, the Comfort Equip for a RoW 911T would consist of; S instruments, leather wrapped steering wheel, and 85L fuel tank (911.201.010.00). For the North America market, the 85L tank was not fitted due to restrictions on plastic tanks, so the standard 62L steel tank was used for that market instead for 911 Es, Ss & Ts w/M470. There is also some debate on the leather vs. foam steering wheels for '73, but I'm not trying to resolve that here. What I am trying to determine is if 1973 911Ts for the Europe market (TVs) with the M470 option were fitted with the 85L plastic tanks (standard on Es & Ss), or the 62L steel tanks (standard on TV w/o M470). PET indicates that the 85L tank was optional for Ts in '73, but there is also a separate option code M424 just for the 85L tank, so it is not clear if both M470 and M424 resulted in the 85L tank for TVs. With the help of folks over on Early911SRegistry, I have learned that the 85L tank uses different mounting hardware, and part of this hardware requires two plates to be riveted in near the rear corners of the tank, and a hole for a special bracket near the front center. My car appears to have no signs of either of these pieces ever being fitted (see photo), which leads me to believe my car was delivered with the standard 62L steel tank. So I am taking a poll of any owners of RoW 1973 911Ts with the Comfort Equipment - does your car have the 62L steel tank, or 85L plastic tank? Thanks Location where one of the retaining plates would have been riveted underneath. No signs of it ever being present or removed: ![]()
