71 911T Ignition Swith Replacement Question

After following the instructions in Dempsey"s 101 Projects, I've gotten to the point where I'm ready to remove the switch assembly ( break away bolts are out)but I'm confused about the steering wheel lock bolt...how do I disengage the assembly from this bolt..I removed the nut but that didn't free the assembly arm and it doesn't seem possible to raise the assembly arm over the nut or rotate the assembly off the nut. How do I get the assembly out? Thank you in advance for any advice. Jack

The wheel lock assembly is held by an allen head bolt and a pinch nut. It sounds like you backed off the pinch nut but you need to unscrew the allen head bolt a bit as well. Be sure to put the lock nut on the bolt before you loosen the bolt as you don't want to completely remove it due to it being a PITA to replace. (Understand I am posting from memory and I cannot clear remember the set up, but I do know you need to back off on the allen head bolt to remove the assembly.)

Don't forget, you may have to drill out the rivets holding the plate that covers the key tumbler to allow for enough movement to remove the entire ignition switch/wheel lock assembly.

long 4mm allen socket with a ball end works good on an angle. keep the nut on it unless you have long skinny fingers.
