911 engine mounting hardware
My 89 3.2 is being rebuilt and I want to freshen the look of this hardware. I don't see where Porsche still sells this stuff....not sure replanting such a small amount will be cost effective. What would I expect to pay for replating? Any ideas on options?

Most plating places have a minimal charge... local place that I take stuff to, that minimal charge is 75.00
Not an issue in my case since I took a lot of stuff to get done... I have to warn you, this is a slippery slope.... But then you can brag that all the hardware in your car is original...lol http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psdlglfs1m.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psaznzdvdx.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps7aadd44d.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps5ca4db01.jpg |

Jrboulder can you PM me your dealer contact info. That pricing sounds great.
Wachuko can you PM me your cell so I can give you a call to talk about the local plating place here in Orlando? Thanks guys! |
It's worthwhile to note that the factory never went too crazy with yellow zinc or yellow cad plating. A lot of the hardware was originally paineted, raw steel, raw zinc, clear zinc or clear cad. If you were to buy new, several pieces may not be that nice yellow zinc you'd get by getting it plated.

Seminole Metal Finishing, Inc. 967 Explorer Cove Altamonte Springs, FL 32701 7516 Phone: (407) 332-8949 Fax: (407) 331-0928 Hours: Monday- Thursday 6am - 5pm Their main business is for bulk stuff for companies, but they do stuff for folks like us. Since they give priority to the company orders, expect a few weeks for getting your stuff done. Also, depending on how much cleaning they have to do (my parts were nasty) there is an additional charge for extra cleaning... |
Also, local ACE hardware has a lot of these bolts in stock... no need to pay crazy prices for those from a dealer... for example... M6 Castle nut... 10.00!!! Got it from ACE for 1.89... just keep that in mind.

Do you know which pieces would not be yellow zinc if purchased new or is it just the luck of the draw? |

Plating
Well that's good as those pieces are pretty concealed. How did you find that out?
