IAT sensor location query.

I had a good position for my IAT sensor screwed into the base plate of the air filter housing as in pic below.

Then I decided to go with pod filters, mainly because they are shorter and they fit better under a standard deck lid.

Anyhow, my dilemma now is where is the best place to fit the sensor?

The options that are most obvious to me are:
B on a bracket next to the filters. Downside is that it is fairly exposed, but I don't have to extend wiring.

C on a bracket next to filters but inverted and higher up. In this position it will be weather-protected by a rain shield that will be fitted to the underside of the deck lid.

D mounted in the engine cover behind the fan. Here it is in airflow when the engine is running, but may be more affected by engine heat.

E in the engine bay but under the fuel pressure regulator mounting bracket where it is weather-protected, but not really in an airstream.

Anyone got any other suggestions?
I guess I should mention that this is a 3.6 conversion into an 88 Carrera with MS3X.

Any location that is convenient should work. The previous MS2 algorithms required the IAT to be mounted near ambient air sources and if you mounted it in the intake tract (true IAT) you had to make adjustments to the Gair correction factors or the system would falsely pull fuel at higher temps - especially under boost.

The MS3 algorithm was changed so this is no longer an issue. I would just mount it in a location where it could not get direct water on the open element. I would suggest hanging off Cyl #3 tucked under the rear deck.

Thanks Jamie, that's useful to know.
I won't worry about trying to measure air temp close to intakes. I did think that weather protection was going to be the main issue so I'll put it inside a perforated tube under the plate that the FPR is mounted on.
