Cabriolet trouble

Hey guys, got an 81 SC cabriolet, I usually drive with the top down but decided to change it up today, but for some reason my locks are about an inch away from falling into place? Is there an adjustment or something for this? Thanks

You should roll down the windows and check the alignment pins that go into the frame above the windscreen. Assuming manual not electric?

Something is binding in the frame.....lower it again.....if still short look to see if any of the bolts are loose.

This may sound like a stupid question, but are the locks in the open position? If they are in the closed position and you try to push the front bar down, the locks will interfere. (I'm presuming the locks/latches are similar in principal to my '87...

How long was is in the down position? I put mine up less than once a year, so sometime i need to really stretch it forward before drop it in.

Since this is conversion (cab started in 83) some of the answers may not apply to your fit.

It was down for a while, what exactly do you mean when you say stretch it forward?

Rear window unzipped? Is it cold out? Did they make Cabs in '81?

'83 was first year for the cab so this must be a targa conversion

Pull it forward enough that the pin are centred and not rubbing going down the hole.
