Door scrape on sidewalk - touch-up tips?
Aaargh! Had my door check-straps replaced some months ago, but thoughtless/brainless passenger has just let it go and strafed the sidewalk with the lower edge of the door. Paint is Diamond Blue. Am I advised to touch it up immediately to prevent surface rust? Area isn't visible, should I go looking for genuine Diamond Blue touch up, or is it actually better to use some kind of sealant or something?

To answer my own (and possibly someone else's) question: I did some research after I calmed down, found mention ofa product called Zinga, which seems to be a brush-on zinc coating. I intend to dab some of that onto any exposed metal before using the touch-up paint.

Another idea is to take the same passenger out for a drive every six months so when they open the door it scrapes the rust off leaving it nice shinny metal. |
Diamond blue ain't cheap paint. If it isn't visible just make sure it won't rust.
