 My worst rust nightmare

The battery in my '86 930 cracked and leaked all over the trunk. I have removed the battery and cleaned the trunk, but I'm sure there is something more I should do.
Is there some product besides baking soda that I should use? I sort of remember a Wurth product that was supposed to stop rust but can't find it now. I hope I haven't unleashed the rust worm. One of the reasons I bought a later car was to avoid just this situation. Thanks for any help. |

i'm no expert but i feel for you so i *bumped*;)
if it were mine (failing specialist products) i would get lots of soapy water in there and give it a good clean. rinse. followed up with drying it out. i've used old engine oil for rust preventive for years. (applied with paint brush) good luck :( |

That happened to my 911SC, but it went unnoticed by the owner, so the front half of the pan is rusted out. A buddy of mine painted something on it liberally, and the rust pretty much dissappeared, but I'll need a new half pan sooner than later.
I don't recall the name of the stuff he used, but if I remember correctly, it was clear, of relatively thin consistency, and was in a quart sized can. |

I suggest you go to the www.por15.com website and order some medicine for your battery boxes...
