Vendor Behavior - *this* is ballsy!

I just called BAT to ask about a Mocal cooler for my trans cooler setup. The nice lady asks if I want to hold or call back, as there was nobody available at the moment. I asked if I could leave a message.

"Well, I don't know. I can't guarantee anyone will call you back. They're pretty busy. You should call back later."

So I said "How about I leave a message, and if one the guys feels like making a sale, he can call me. If not, well, that's fine too." So she reluctantly took down my information, in kind of a huff, then hung up.

Yes, I'm offering to have them contact me when they get a free moment, and she takes like I'm offering a root canal.

Must be nice to have sooo much business that you have to turn people away.

Thom.....I just ordered a cooler today for my 3.6 conversion.

BTW....the motor is being shipped tommorrow from Steve T.....

They had the cooler in stock and I faxed them my information, including a cc#, my resale # and shipping info.....got a call back 20 minutes later with a confirmation and a question if I wanted 3 day UPS shipping or slug mail.

No muss no fuss....

If Pelican doesnt stock the cooler you want there are numerous other source besides BAT.

Pegasus, Truechoice, Hoerr racing, Summit, Jegs,Coleman, the list goes on and on..(all have websites)

Since BAT snubbed ya, Im sure any of the above and would be happy to part you from some of your $$ for an oil cooler.

EDIT: not even getting involved, I caused enough trouble last week with the whole PET/cocaine deal.

Thom,

Meaning no disrespect to PP, however if you plan on calling Mocal/Bat again, then ask to speak with Pete. He helped me out several times with obscure fittings, additional fans, plus a 25-row unit...I tried PP several times, however they were either out of stock or simply did not carry...

Good Luck,
Bob

It's funny how people/businesses change. I used to deal with BAT a lot when they were still up in Philly and I had a FF and a couple of Fiestas. They were always very helpful and friendly. I even stopped in to say "Hi" in person and discovered that at the time they were a very small operation inspite of the comparatively good catelog. I seem to remember parts stuffed to the ceiling in the basement of a house. But that was about 15 years ago.

Now I've got a 911, PP exists with its web site and BBS's and the world of race car parts is quite a bit more developed. I too recommend Truechoice, , Pegasus or Essex for any racing hard parts. Nothing rice - just real serious race parts for serious racers.
