My window regulator spring retainer, slow power window fix.
 

I was reading a post the other day about a small clip that falls out of the window regulator that holds the helper spring tension. After reading about it, I went out to my car, rolled up my window and... click.. the piece broke off of my regulator. I removed the regulator and put in a bolt with the head ground down for some clearance, put two nuts on the bolt and put the spring on the proper side of the bolt for tension. I also sprayed the hinge point with Boeshield since there is no room or way to put grease in that point. Now the window goes up and down like it should. I decided to check my passenger side window and wouldn't you know it, the retainer was broken on that one too. Fixed them both. The person who posted their fix used a stainless steel button head bolt but I didn't have enough clearance for that so I ground the head of a bolt.

Nice fix, that bolt, and great pictures.

Today the passenger door was apart for the second time this week.. Window was non- op a few months back. Yesterday I got it working. Then it didn't, so I drove 2.5 hrs with the window down..Had to get home! Today (third time) I went inside the door, checking for frayed wires etc, noticed one of the wires to the motor was disconnected! No way.. That was an easy / lucky find.

Nothing makes you happier than a no cost fix :D

Recently dealt with "slow window" and found that the 911 turbo (930) at least for 1979 has a different setup.

There is a flange that is part fo the frame that the spring is attached to......no way for it to break.

So if you have a 79 930 and a slow window look for other reasons.

In my case it was a screw that was too tight and seized. It was part of the arm mechanism of the regulator.

Easy fix. But to find that out I had to take the whole thing apart. Not so easy.

Great post!! Will dig into our slow mover as soon as I get some spare time or find a way to create 36 hours into a 24 hour day...
