transmission mount torques

I tried a search and did not find exactly what I was looking to find . On page 101-13 of the Bentley gives torques of 58 ft-lbs for transmission crossmember to crossmember mount. I have stripped one of the bolts before reaching this and it just doesn't feel right. Is this possible an error in the manual? It gives 58 ft-lbs for the crossmember mount to body. I stripped the threads for a stud going into the transmission last weekend trying this. I have that fixed by re-tapping to 7/16 to the transmission and then machining the lower half of a 7/16 stud down to 3/8 . I did not want to have to drill a larger hole in the transmission crossmember. I sure want to get this thing right and put this engine back in the car this weekend. Any help on these torque values will be appreciated.

Hi,
Did the same a couple of days ago. Realized too late that there is a typo. Stripped the lock nuts. The transmission mount to crossmember bolts are M8 and should be torqued to 25 Nm, about 18 ft-lbs, as all other M8s on the car.

I think the Porsche spec is 21-23 NM.

Why I don't use a Bentley...

Good luck,
JR

P.S. I got the PDF of the factory shop manual for $10.00 or so. Now I have the manual and all the schematics on the ipad at the car while doing stuff.....

Please tell me you looked that up. I just found it in the little white spec book, and for the 915, you are spot on.

These are the mount bolts to the transmission, correct?

The mounts to the body, through the main rubber body mounts, are the heftier torque, right? I can't find that torque but 15-ish ft lbs seams a little lean.

Edit: CickClickBoom's pic confirmed. Gracias

Thanks guys! I will trust myself more and not continue with something that just does not feel right. Made correction to the book. Will double check here if something seems off in the books. Got a new bolt at Napa and back to getting this car together.

You can't be too wrong if you use something like this.

Bob, the bolts I am talking about is the M8 bolts and locking nuts that attach the rubber mounts to the cross member.
