What height do I need to drop a 3.2

Fabricating a roll around dolly for a non running 3.2 How high does bottem of car need to be to clear engine when it comes out?

Height

Approximately 36" from the bottom of the bumper. I removed the valence and gained some extra clearance to get to that height.

Even less than 36" if you remove the rear bumper...easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I also removed the blower, ducting, and air box, which also improved the clearance. What the heck, you've got to disconnect all of the wires/hoses anyhoo.

Good luck!

Ditto this. It's a good idea to remove that airbox and put it away in a safe place. Replacements don't come cheap or easy. If you choose to remove the rear bumper, valance, etc., PB Blast those nuts and studs and go easy on them, they'll twist and break off if you try to muscle them loose. Don't forget the essential man-in-engine-bay picture!

Absolutely not!!! It is a total pain to remove the bumper and valence. Much easier to just jack the car up to the required height. I have well over 20 drops under my belt, and we have never had to remove the bumper.

Couldn't disagree more; you mean to tell me you're removing the engine with for the purpose of disassembling that mother and you're telling me "removing the bumper is a pain", really?

The real issue with jacking the car to 36" is the potential hazard associated with stability of the vehicle propped at a 40-45 degree angle.

By the way, I didn't suggest that anyone "had to remove the bumper"...only if you want to avoid the need to jack the car up to that level.

To get around the severe angle, we use jack stands in the front as well as the rear. Get the big-boy Jack Stands from Sears and you'll be fine.

That being said, please post a picture of your Targa. I have never seen one in Granite green.
