AC Compresor where belt is
I was looking at my AC compresor and noticed that the compressor is for the most part silver except for the wheel which is black where the belt is wrapped around. Stamped on that black wheel is a FORD logo!
I know my compressor was replaced but is this the correct compressor? Anyone else have this? Thanks

The Nippon Denso compressor that Porsche used on these cars was also standard on : 87 Mercury Lynx, 88-90 Merc Sable 3.8l or 82-87 Toy Celica.
Bet that someone went to either a Ford dealer or a local parts place and got a generic ND compressor at a lot better price!

So there should be no need for concern that its not a Porsche part?
Are the Nippo's an alright replacement? As far as I can tell its working fine. The only problem with my R134 air is that its leaking the freon out. Which I am going to repalce the hoses, the dryer, and add an underbelly.

The compressor is the same one, no matter whose name is on it. Ford and the others purchased it from Nippon Denso the same way that Porsche did. The ND is a lot better than the earlier York but the new complete rotary ones are said to be better, but only if you want to spend a lot of money.
Mine was leaking as well, but mostly through the main shaft seal. Open the hood and look inside and see if you can see some oily film and such on the inside of the hood on the right side where the compressor sits. It gets thrown there when the compressor is turning. If you find some, then your main shaft seal is going... I overhauled my compressor here for under $30, its not rocket science. The hoses and such are a big deal, especially with R-134 as its molecules are smaller than R-12. www.ackits.com sells the hose and such in bulk and you can do it for about 30% the cost of what a shop will charge you, but its not a "hour or two" job. Yeah I messaged with a few other Pelicanites and I know the hose pull is a pain. I have a mechanic who works out of his house with garage out back and does really good clean work at very reasonable prices. I am going to see if he can run them and add the underbelly for me, if not I will tackle the hoses myself. I do not recall anything on the underside of my rear hood so I think that part is ok.
Thanks for the info.
