1976 911 door hinge issue

Hello all!
I need some advice!
I removed the upper door hinge on my 1976 911. When I removed the last bolt, the backing plate inside the post came off and fell to the bottom. I don't know if it was simply welded on but in any event it has dropped. Any ideas on how to retrieve it other than cutting a hole in the post or an alternative fix?
Thank you all for your time!

Its held there by a metal bracket, which must have rusted away, which likely means a leak from the windscreen area, which means......

Well, you get the idea. You need something solid to hang a door off, is the bottom of the door hinge post still intact and not rusted out? Give it a poke with a screwdriver. You may be able to get access into that cavity with the front wing removed through the hole the door electric window wiring goes through? (operating here by fallible memory) If so then retrieve the threaded plate with a magnet on a string or something like it then weld a wire to the plate and hold it in position via access hole while you rehang the door. You will need help and a swear jar for sure, good luck.
