72 911T won't switch off!!
Hello all,
Took it for a spirited run today. Started fine, ran great but would not shut off. I actually turned the key and removed it from the ignition switch but the car kept running. I pulled the main wire from the distributor to shut her off. Waited about an hour or so and tried again with the same result. I'm not a wrenched but it sounds like I need to replace the ignition switch? Thoughts??? Tx in advance. |
a single filament bulb in a double contact socket in the brake lights can do that sometimes.

Wow. I haven't touched my lamp bulbs in years but I will check. Thanks

sub'd. same problem, same year car.

This is common with cars that have MSD ignition boxes. They have a tech article on the cure. A simple diode installed in the alternator light circuit is the fix. It works.

I'll look into it. thanks. |
I'd start with the ignition switch first - we sell a ton of them for this reason. The other things are good to try after the switch has been replaced.
