Positioning of oil tank seal to body
Hi,
it is embarrasing, but I forgot to take a picture of the oil tank filler neck/filter area before removing the tank for restoration. Now that it's time to put the tank back in, I'm not sure how exactly the seal between the oil tank and the engine bay must be installed. My question is whether the seal stays outside the opening between the tank and the engine bay sheet metal or if I have to pull the seal (partly) through the opening. It's even hard to describe with words what I'm talking about ;-) Anyone have a Picture of the filler neck/filter area that Shows the seal? Thanks, Manfred

Uncertifiable!!!

Hey Manfred, seal goes on the tank first. Then fit the tank up the inside of the fender. Seal will need some assistance to seat. Space Is tight so I would suggest some duct take on the protruding edges inside the fender and perhaps some thin cardboard to protect the outside face of the tank.
Cheers, Johan

Johan,
thank you for your reply and the picture. In the meantime, the oil tank is back in the car. It took some fiddling to position the seal, but it wasn't too hard. - Manfred ![]()
