Paint code data plate stamping
Where can I send off a new color data plate for paint code number stamping, trying to look original for a 1970 T Conda green. Number is 26 26 G .

You can do it yourself.
You need to buy a set of steel stamps. The closest size is 3/32nds (2.4mm) Young Bros. Stamp Works, INC. Muscatine, Iowa Item 02361 Very close to original size and font. Others may chime in with exact Concours options. I hunted for a while and tried different sizes etc. Cooper |
I think that you can still buy a repo, from that Serria something and Eagleday had them.

I have an original blank plate and would like to use it.
Before I buy the stamps, maybe someone has a set with a 2, 6, and G stamps and I'll pay them for their time. I can help off-set the cost of their purchase. Vr, Scott |
Contact International Mercantile. They have the plates and the ability to stamp them.
(as they could be considered a potential Pelican competitor, I'm unsure about posting the URL or # here) |
If you email me at cooper.boggs@gmail.com
I'll help you out. Can you also post or email me macro close up shot of the numbers/letters on your code plate. I'll stamp a scrap piece of AL. and we can compare the font. If its close enough I'll stamp your plate for the cost of postage to send the plate round trip. Cooper |
Here is what my stamps look like in your code:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398883973.jpg Here is a shot next to an original tag from a 1970 914-4. Fairly similar font and size. Note how sloppy the tags were stamped, each digit is individually struck. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398884098.jpg Here is a shot next to an original tag from a 1971 914-4. Note that the font is now different for the upper chassis #, while the lower paint code is still similar to what I have. Paint code is very crooked as well. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1398884275.jpg Cooper |
Here is a picture of a tag I stamped for a Lime Green 1975 Euro Carrera

Thanks Cooper, I'll send you an email and discuss.
