74 915 Trans Main Shaft seal not tight fit

I'm in process of replacing the 915 transmission main shaft seal on my 74 Carrera #57 restoration project. This transmission does not have the removable guide tube.
The issue I have is that the Elring seal 99911332740 which measures 23x35x8mm is not a nice snug fit as I would expect, I can literally push the seal in by hand using my PVC pipe to drive it in square. I tried another brand 35mm seal and it is not a tight fit either, I tried a 36mm seal and it is too large. Is there a sealing product used to seal and/or cement the seal in position?
I have pushed the old seal into the transmission and removed it through the differential cover. There was also another one still lingering on the main shaft that I removed as well. As a note these should be removed and not left inside, they do disintegrate.
I appreciate any direction.

Do you have the serial number to decode the version of 915 ? I don't know if there are different seals but might help run down the issue.

It’s a known issue. The best fix, as usual, is the most expensive one. Ship it to CMS for machine work.

I am familiar with using an SKF Speedi-Sleeve to help with a shaft issue, but perhaps one could be used here to help with the bore. Dunno, never tried it! As Matt recommends, CMS can help and they do great work.
