Rear Crush Tubes & Bumper Bellows
To save weight in the back, purchased a set of euro crush tubes for $200. They weigh practically nothing, and probably afford the same level of protection.
Who has added these and how did they deal with losing about 1.5" distance from the bumper shock and the tube when it comes to the bellows? mounting the bumper with the bellows compresses it to the point where they practically want to bulge out. Did you buy euro bellows or cut a couple of pleats out or what? Pics would be helpful. The correct answer is NOT retain you stock bumper shocks. Thought I would save the nay-Sayers the effort. ![]() Thanks

The front and rear crush tubes are not the same length (I believe rear are longer). Could you possibly be mounting front tubes on the rear?
I can post measurements of the front and rear tubes I have if that would help.

I had them on my car at one time with no issue with fit. I think Frankc is right and that you have fronts rather than rears.

I would really appreciate the measurements. I bet they sent me the fronts which I have already drilled out the bolts. Laying the shock next to the tube their is an obvious 1 to 2" difference.

Not only are they of differing lengths but the arrangement of the studs on the bumper end is different for the front and rear, plus the angles of the mounting pads are slightly different. Not sure how you'd install a pair of front crush tubes on the rear and be able to attach the rear bumper to them...
Why'd you remove the studs? JR |

Frank thanks for the pic. Very helpful. Studs removed so I can attach using carriage bolts which will be welded in and then ground smooth on the outside of the bumper for a completely clean look after paint

You are going to weld steel studs to the aluminum bumper?
Crush tubes will put the bumper in the same place as shock mounts and should need no mod to the bellows. Also on my early 74 which has crush tubes there is a rubber spacer between the flange and bumper. It's about 1/4" thick. Last edited by MikeD; 03-18-2014 at 07:58 AM.. |

Can someone please weigh these tubes and the difference between them and the US models.
Also talking tubes how about these for the ultimate, a nice way to loose weight and look totally stock: Porsche 911 Lightweight Impact Bumper Mounts Last edited by whiterabbit; 03-18-2014 at 05:31 PM.. |

Sorry, I don't have a scale accurate enough to provide meaningful measurements.

Can't weigh them either but when the package arrived with the 2 aluminum crush tubes if felt like they mailed me air. Was relieved to see there was actually something in the box. This is where I found them 911 Rear Euro Light Weight Bumper Tubes* | Aase Sales Porsche Parts Center. One Brit on Impact Bumpers said that all 4 crush tubes weigh the same as one US bumper shock. Don't know if that is real or not but they are dam lite.

Thanks to Frank and the other board members. yes they did ship the wrong ones - the fronts. They are making things right by sending me the rears less 20% off and their cost on shipping. No more worries about fitment - but that extra $200 still stings a little.

FWIW, when I made my carbon fiber bumper, I made custom lightweight crush tubes, and I purposely made them shorter to tuck the bumper about an inch closer to the body. Then I just drilled the holes for the bellows studs a little further back than the stock bumper. To me it looks cleaner tucked in a bit.

I was going to drill my Euro crush tubes (which gets them very near the weight of the SVP ones) but may go fibreglass front bumper blade so may just use some brackets instead. Yes, euro tubes steel.
I installed on my Carrera - if you have fitment issues they are reversed front to back. Other than removing the studs, they should fit exactly like the US versions with no other mods needed. Bit of install info here: (my bumper is modded as well) Carrera Suspension Update

Trying to find out if the AESE website, which lists euro crush tubes steel for sale at $95 front above, is for 2 front or just one?
