I banged a hole in it with a nail and put duct tape over if afterwards. Lasts OK.

I guess it's a chicken and the egg question, Does POR15 make the stuff for Wurth or vice versa. No way to know, but they are somehow interconnected. My very old can has no Wurth markings at all. Then again why would Wurth relabeled as POR be sold at a much cheaper price. Boggles the mind. By the way, there's another player in the market with an identical product "Chassis Saver" There are numerous forum discussions on the pros and cons and comparisons ad nasuem of all three products. Strange, as they are the SAME stuff, just different and widely varying prices. I guess "you spends your money and makes your choice". |
Put it in jars, sealed with cling wrap and a screw lid and in the fridge. Lasted fine over 6 months.

The Wurth can recommends plastic wrap between the lid and can and storing the can upside down. I've always done it this way and never had a problem.

You want to eliminate the air space in the container. An old timer taught me to drop cleaned rocks, gravel or hex nuts into the paint. The level riser (displacement) and there is less air in the can.
Always take a finish nail and make multiple holes around the can so paint can drop back into the can. Putting a piece of cling wrap helps. I've had POR 15 last years on the shelf using this method. |
