Post car left sitting for 2 years plus

I had an intermittant fault before I stored the car. When I got it out of storasge the fault became solid! Coil went and screwed the CDS. Changed both. new plugs and leads, started up with no hesitation.

It was VERY smokey, difficult to say whether the smoke was black or white 'cos it was in the evening.

I changed the oil, I got about six quarts (US) from the sump. I'm no expert, I expect that's already apparent, but I was only expecting one or two from the sump, with the rest coming from the tank.

I completed oil change, started engine, some whitish smoke initially then it cleared.

I still have smoke if I hit the gas but as I drive it it seems to be reducing.

Sorry to have gone on a bit, my concern is that I got six quarts from the sump after sitting for an extended period.
Thanks in advance, jeff (yes, it's an mfi)

Jeff,

I wouldn't be concerned about the amount of oil in the sump. I hope you drained the old fuel, but, if not do so immediately, and clean or remove the brass screen pre-filter under the aluminum hex nut holding on the fuel outlet tube on the tank. When you refill the tank, put a couple of cans of Techron in it. Change the fuel filter, and put an additional inline filter ahead of the fuel pump. The next time you try to restart after doing the above ... run the fuel pump for 15-20 minutes before trying to restart ... to try to get gum out of the injection pump.

As soon as practical, completely drain all old brake fluid. Be looking out for master cylinder leakage due to rear cup/seal damage from rust/pitting of master cylinder, unless flushing was done prior to storage!

Thanks for the reassurance,
fuel (which had a good dose of stabil in it) will be dumped tomorrow and refilled, the techron is on my shelf ready.
Jeff
