CIS question after reading for a few hours
Hello all ---- i have been reading and working on my 77 911S for 9 years and today I got it started for the first time in 9 years (not exactly true - it ran at the PPI and a few times while being taken apart - just to keep it running)
Car is 77 but has an 83 3.0 liter motor in it ---- It started almost perfect 2 seconds or less ---- but i can NOT get it off idle - starts to backfire and pops open the pop off valve---- UNLESS I reach in and open the plenum a 1/4 inch with my finger and then push throttle cable at same time i push the plenum open more and more ---- and she really comes alive and sounds very nice ---- I searched for info and read countless posts and learned lots , but my motor starts every time just cant come off idle ---- So I hope you of you already knows the answer and can save me more hours of reading ---- thanks |

What kind of system do you have on the '83 engine? CIS, carb or what? If this is a CIS engine, USA or RoW spec? If a USA spec, are you using the lambda/OXS configuration? Without knowing these vital informations, don't expect to get pertinent suggestions or recommendation. Keep us posted. Tony |

Is there pix I can take so that you can tell me what I have -and if i am using lambda/OXS config ?? |

Take some pictures of the engine particularly: 1). Catalytic converter or pre-muffler where the oxygen sensor is located. 2). Inspect the WUR located by intake runner #2 (driver side) and look for the identification numbers (0-438-140-xxx). 3). Under the passenger seat is an electronic box (ECU). Confirm if you have one under the seat. Does it have wires going to the engine bay? First, let's us determine what type 3.0 liter SC you got in your car. Tony |

Yes I have a box under the pass seat (if there was a pass seat its a one seater right now) ---- and wire to engine,,, i just looked and noticed a large terminal ring that is not connected to anything near that box --- Looks like a grounding ring -- The floor got painted and the painter did not bolt anything down ---- pixs to follow --- thanks so far |
