Let's see your roll cages

Hey all,

I am considering adding a roll cage to my '78 911sc. I would like to see options which still allow use of the back seats for my kids? Is this possible without removing the whole cage?

Pictures would be great.

Thanks

Are you talking full cage? Not a good idea on a street car. Not sure you can still use the rear seats with most any roll bar either. Here is my set up.

Crappy shot now.

Full cage or half? Either way, use of the rear seats is out of the question. If you're OK with a 1/2, the DAS roll bar is bolt-in/removable.

I guess I mean roll-bar or half-cage. It is mostly to secure 4 point harness so I am learning a harness bar may be better for me?

(Bold highlights added to your message)-
I would never put a child's head in close proximity to a cage member, not safe. In an accident they could do serious damage to their precious heads.

nope. would be a very poor cage if it allowed use of the rear seats imo

You don't want a cage or rollbar on the street without a helmet, and you certainly want 5 or 6 point instead of 4. I've read that 4 point are more dangerous than factory seatbelts.

PCA does not allow four point harnesses. I have heard Schroth has a DOT legal harness, however.

Whatever you do, it is imperative that the seat, harness, and roll bar are compatible or designed to work together. Seats should not be modified to accommodate a harness. Most harnesses are designed to be used with a race seat.

The roll bar MUST be padded IF there is any chance of hitting it with any part of your body.

Harness bar or preferably to me would be something like the Brey Krause harness truss...

Or going the 16k way via Ruf :)

Roll bar.

This is more of a street item from auto power. It has a removable cross bar.
I chrome plated it before intallation.

+1 on the BK harness truss, if all you're looking to do is locate anchor points for a harness. Bolt in, so no holes to drill. Can take it out for rear seat use. But you cannot seat kids in the rear seats with it installed.
