Yes, Java...I remember the golden-era from 73 to the late 80's...as technology caught up, and we finally got a better, cleaning running car. Your children(if you have any and the rest of us today benefit from that push in technology)...and if we don't have to buy more exported oil from countries like Saudi Arabia because the average car gets better MPG, then why support them? The sky's here in the early 80's looked like Pea-soup...21 Century...can't remember that last time we had a smog-alert.

Some "good" regulation actually saves the bacon of very stupid people: for instance ABS/Traction Control/Air-bags/ESP all mandated by the DOT...deaths on the highways are not being reduced because we are becoming better drivers or drinking less or slowing down in the rain/snow...devices like the above keep the inattentive alive(smart cars for the half-baked).

Yes...ethanol is a joke...crappier MPG, and less range on a tank of gas(more expensive food too since another entity is vying for that corn or sugar). We got starry-eyed politician's feeding the masses pipe-dreams(like the lie Arnold told here in CA about Hydrogen going mainstream by 2010)...and everyone nods their heads....or high-speed bullet trains to no-where(work is in progress right now!...writing rubber checks on future earnings).

How do we work against this "logic"?..."it's got electrolytes!"

i love ethanol. well for trackdays or mountain runs anyway...
burns cooler/cools the intake charge, more power. match made in heaven for aircooled cars!
..but i'll still run some pump 98 through rather than let the ethanol sit in the tank

Just gears and ring and pinion. 930 and 915 slider and hub assemblies are the same parts.

As for the 4spd vs 5spd debate? The 915 1st gear is stupidly short and has a big rpm drop on the shift to 2nd. If performance were the priority they would use something like a 3.50 1st instead of the 3.18 found in that gearbox. First is a useless gear on a 915.
