Dash and windshield install

Tackled this project after lots of reading on the forum. The dash wasn't too bad. Had it recovered in leather at Shoreham Upholstery in VT. However, the windshield install was a struggle. The windshield and gasket are secure (with metal trim inserted) all the way around the pinchweld except for about 2 inches in the center bottom. My question is will the windshield pick tool (looks like a dental instrument) work for pulling the gasket over the rim? I do not want to pull the windshield and start over. Picture before install.

Thanks

Won't hurt to try it. Just be careful not to tear the rubber.

Couple pics of the old dash and recovered version.

Good luck, but it is almost impossible. That is the area that it most commonly pops out of when installing and rarely goes back in without removing and starting over.

Solution: bicycle spokes have a hook on one end. The spoke is thin enough to fit between the windshield and dash and strong enough to flip the gasket over the pinchweld edge in about 1 inch increments. It would have killed me to pull the windshield a fifth time and start over. Moral of the story is being more careful the first time......
