New Porsche owner with few questions

Hi I just picked up a 1982 SC. Had no idea the car had an alarm. Its gone off twice for the door being open for longer than 5 minutes and one opening the door. Is there a way to prevent this. Does this sound like a factory alarm. Inhave no remotes. I turned it off by putting the key in and turning. I also got stuck driving in very heavy rain yesterday. While cleaning the car in found a small amount of water in the frunk. It was in the thin channel in front of the battery. All the hood seals look good. Anyone else have this? Thanks. Brian. I did try a search but coulded find answer.

A "Siren" alarm? No, not stock.

There's an "Anti-Theft" system; if you look in the driver's side door you can insert the key and turn it on/off. I've never actually messed with it. Someone else will chime in.

I had an aftermarket alarm on my 81 and it proved to be a PITA and I removed it. If yours is factory, figure that out, and if so, keep it.

My "brain box" was under the driver's kick panel carpet. It was fairly easy to figure out how the wiring interrupted the car from starting.

With respect to the water, sop it up and douse the hood. If no leaking, move to the inner fenders and do the same. If you drive in the rain that may be a source of ingress.

Overfill the windshield washer reservoir? Leaking reservoir?

Yes it was a siren alarm. I dried the water. Ill hit it with some water and see what happens. The storm I got stuck in was pull over type rain. Do not normally plan to use unless weather is nice. But Im in Ct and the weather changes by the hour.

The air intake at the bottom of the windshield has a drain hose that might be blocked.

Sweet ride. I'm also in CT. As a fellow new owner I can agree with how great these cars are. Good luck and have fun.
