Would it be emissions exempt?

Let's see, in 1971:
![]() Today: $2.25 million What's that, about 370% per year? A little better than fishwire.com, and you get to drive it.

god, Curt if you buy that monster, I want a ride
arguably one of the most incredible cars of all time if I win Powerball this weekend ($100mil), I'll buy it.... yah right an incredibly unique racecar that'll bring the hair up on anyone's neck I try to imagine who could afford this, but more importantly what it would be like to get it delivered to your garage, and planning for the next DE track day to unvail it what a dream

Or, you could go with this accurate-looking replica and save about $2,249,000 .....

I picked up this T shirt at the Dealer a month ago. It is cool to actually see the cars in real life!

I think that car was bought by Wayne Jackson. Wayne had the car at a recent DE at VIR. He also had the car with the Torno logo and Italian colors (which he drove in the DE) that is pictured in the post above.

Ah, this POS redlines at 7700. You'd be better off with an early S, throw in some hot cams.

Can you imagine.... $20,000!!!- all we need is a time machine and 20g's. What is available now (new) that we will kick our own butts for not buying in 30+ years? A GT1/ GT2? What does $20,000 in '71 translate to in terms of 2002 money?

Too late, Curt!
Wayne Jackson purchased 020 from Vasek Polak, and is now the proud owner of the most desireable US campained Porsche in existence. This car, along with the Torno 962 and a killer 914/6 were at VIR last weekend. Wish I'd taken some pics of the trailer - mirrored ceilings so you could see the cars reflected, and absolutely spotless. Wayne ran the 962, but I believe the 917 stayed in the box. Don Newton [PCA Potomac Chief Instructor] posted some pics on your thread at Original 917 Brochure

Wow, I am pretty weak on the different race classes these cars were in, but the price differential from that to:
is huge... This one is currently for sale in New Zealand for NZ$350k (about US$160k). I've seen it race and it is hella fockin' sweet. (edit) I thought I had better school myself up a little. While the McLaren is clearly not a Sebring winner... it is the customer equivalent to the 1969 Can-Am winning M8, apparently. Still cool ![]()

So I'm guessing the exchange rate was around 3-1. so that makes it roughly $6,000 dollars! of course my Loaded Mustang Mach 1 was only $2,500 new in 1971, so it would have been a bit of a stretch for the family car. Chuck

That invoice appears to indicate the sale of a body only and a whole bunch of wheels. On the bottom of the first page of the factory brochure, it indicates a price of DM140,000 for the complete car! That's HUGE money in 1971. -- Curt
