Sunroof Liner
I know I'm an idiot, but now what?
I am (slowly) restoring my 74 911. I took my sunroof out 6 months ago and stored it on top of the spare tire. Being ready to reassemble the interior I find the rubber from the tire has nicely bled through into the liner and I have the name Pirrelli (in reverse) with a nice outline of the tire diameter. The mark actually bled through the liner and is visible front and back. I have scrubbed and tried every solvent, no luck removing the 'stain'. Now, not wanting to replace the entire headliner, which I have just tightened and glued in place, what can I do? A new cover will not match the rest of the liner, so that is not a preferred option. Does anyone have a slightly yellowed (previously white) sunroof cover for sale? Any other suggestions? ![]() |

There are "vinyl-paints." Color matching could be tough, though.

You might try calling around to upholstery shops in your area to see if they will give you scraps removed from a car on which they worked. Since the sunroof isn't that large, a good size piece of scrap should do the trick and you stand a good chance of matching the color somewhat.
