Part needs identifying

Hi All,

I have just finished the rebuild of my SC motor and have a dreaded part left over. Can anyone help me identify it. Sorry the photo is a bit out of focus.

Cheers, Simon

On my MFI engine, there was similar part which bolted to the left-hand case half on the top of the engine. The MFI pump bolted to the top of it. I believe on CIS cars, this is where the throttle linkage bolts down to on the same place on the engine.

Just a guess...

Looks to me like the right crankcase cover... I just hope I'm wrong (as usual)

on my SC the throttle linkage plate is held on by 3 studs...one of the studs has a spacer on it to make it the same height as the stud that are on the crank...I know there are subtle varitions on SC engines, but I don't think it is the throttle linkage part...

sorry I can't help more..

MJ

PS try looking at the parts diagrams on this site as well as the factory manuals, bentley, PET CD, Porsche parts booklet, etc...

looks like the sawed off bottom of the airpump mount, which used to atrtach to the front of the left chain cover.

I think you are correct - the hole spacing matches the two larger studs on the left timing chain cover and the edge looks like it's be cut. My car originally had the air pump but it is long gone now.

Thanks, Simon
