Barn Find: Help me ID a 1970 911T
Gents,
I may buy a 1970, 911T that is in poor condition body wise with the body and all out/in parts pulled and stored. The Ser#: 9110122461 Engine #: 6107407, 911/07 Does the ser# and motor # match the year - it appears so, but based on the sequence of the two and w/o a COA would it appear to be a matching # car? The car was update to awide body late 70s with a whale tale and fiber glass wheel wells. You can see the parts stored above the barn/shop. Based on what you see - Option A - what is it worth for a total package deal? Option B - to just buy the motor and tranny, what is a 2.2 / 901 worth? Below are a few pictures. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks, that is what I thought. This may be a matching car with motor/tranny.
What kind of wheels are these? They appear to fit well for the wide body look?

Call PCNA with VIN and engine numbers. They in many cases can confirm originality then issue a COA after payment.

If the engine and tranny aren't destroyed and COA shows that the chassis/engine/trans are correct it would be worth picking up if cheap and you had the $$ to return it to original. Of course you would need (as all body parts I see were from a short hood conversion) rear quarters, both front fenders, hood, new long hood latch frame, complete f/r bumpers, engine and trans rebuilds, interior, etc. ...most likely well over $50K worth of parts once you were done if you are lucky. To make it a hot rod it's closer to $25K plus the initial car cost if you DIY..

Probably best to figure cost to bring alive and work backwards to get a value. And Gary is right - To get that car back into early car, narrow body running condition is $50K - and that's if you do a lot of your own work. A professional restoration will be over $100K - and believe me, those guys earn every damn penny. Not trying to discourage you, but parts are terribly expensive and it's very time consuming to rebuild one of these. Good luck.

That's $50K IF you could find correct seats, steering wheel, dash, door panels, wheels, and on and on. That is a hot rod project at best, just too hacked to go back to stock IMO..

Guys,
I thank you for the feedback and sound logic. I already have a 1970, but after seeing the car in person it is just too much work and money to invest. I know there are those that say keep the car intact, but I was thinking to buy the motor and tranny to store for my 1970, which has a 2.4S MFI w/ a 915 tranny. I blew-up my 2.2 on Autobahn 7 heading to work in Schweinfurt in 1992 and replaced it with the current motor. Buying this 2.2 may be something in the distant future to have. My 1973 2.4 w/ a S MFI system is worth a pretty penny and would more than pay for the 2.2 rebuild when or if I decide to return to near stock.. Vr, Scott
