Need Repair Shop in NY Metro Area
Can anyone recommend a repair shop in the New York City metro area? Long Island, Connecticut, Westchester, NJ, etc.
Also, if you have experience using Rudtner's Racing (http://www.rudtnersracing.com/index2.htm) for your service I would like to hear about it. Thanks.

I have had great success in the past at POWERTECH in Rockaway NJ. Not too far of route 80.

Formula Motorsports in LIC Queens is probably closest if you are in NYC. The owner--Mark seems totally competent, nice guy. Not sure how expensive compared to Rudtners as I only had tires mounted & brakes bled which was reasonable. Have not been to Rudtners yet.
Theres a good guy in Spring valley named Rick-- Continental Motors. He works on every type of car but has had six years at the Porsche dealership There is another shop (owner also named Rick I believe) in Nyack which is supposed to be professional mechanic/builder for racing. If there is a "TRE-style" garage on the east coast, I would be curious to know about it.

What's the matter?
What your problem is dictates who you should use around here.

John Cramer is the #1 expert on fuel line routing and dashboard wiring on '69-'73 cars east of the Mississipi. He is based out of New Paltz, NY. He has a two year wait list however.

I need to have a major service done on a 911 SC. But I want to find a place that I can trust to do other things as well.
I want to find a highly competent shop but I also need to trust their opinion. I don't want work done on my car because the shop owner needs to make a downpayment on his new Sea Ray.

I was put off by the rpm racing website. They show a Ferrari 360 and Dodge Viper in the intro then list the brands they work on ranging from Pontiacs to Bentleys. They don't seem to specialize in 911s. Do they have Porsche trained mechanics? I'm not being a smart ass, I am just curious why you guys are recommending them.

Yeah, RPM.
I have plenty of examples of how they helped me with advice and tools for free when they could have just charged me for the work. They are ALL about customers and doing the right thing. Scott

Call Taso at RPM racing. It is very good advice. P-Car shop first, others second.

I sent Scott to them too. My point was, if you ask for feedback, and you get it, dont worry about the website. they are just trying to have a diverse business, it is not LA so they need to be able to do more than 911s
good luck

Thanks. I will call them and see about an appt. It's my first 911 so I'm in the learning process and doing my due diligence, trying not to make mistakes.
