Remove Rocker Panel Rubber
I'm about to pull the trigger on an nice SC. I can't wait to have it. Once I get the car the only thing I'd like to do is remove the rocker panel rubber. I know it slides on and off, but from what I've seen there is some sort of lip that keeps it on.
What all is involved in taking the rubber off and making it look like it was never there (see the picture below)? Any help would be great! ![]() |

It's pretty easy. Just remove the 2 end caps at each wheel well, fore and aft. There will be 2 screws that hold them. Remove the the rocker panel trim. You can just pull it out. Remove the 3 screws on each side that hold the rocker panel to the body. On the passenger side there is also 3 screws that also hold the oil line clamps that are also attached to the bottom of the rocker. So, might be a good idea to put a block of wood or two to support the oil lines. You could fill the screw holes.

Thanks John.
My main concern is with the grooves that keep the rubber on (see picture below). Does it require body work, painting, etc to get the refined look like on the picture from my first post. ![]() |

Once you remove the rubber strip, you expose the screws that hold the rocker to the body. You can then remove the rocker for the look in the picture you posted. You should fill the holes. Here's mine:

Thanks mreid.
So from what John said, I understand there are 6 exposed screws on each side where I would need to fill the holes. Is that correct? What did you use to fill the holes? Also, I'm guessing the job required some paint as well? |

You would fill the holes with body filler sand and then paint to match. Same as how you would fix any damage to a steel panel.

What you're seeing in that pic is the absence of rocker panels. The panels have been removed.
