First Time on the track w/ Phoenix - NNJ Lime Rock 2

All I can say is WOW! I know why I love these cars!

After all the problems and headaches it felt awesome to finally get Phoenix on the track. She's not the fastest car (no Jack Olsen here) but not the slowest and, at least for me, definitely THE most fun.

Two days of perfect weather and 'Safe, Serious Fun". Drivers Ed is a terrific way to learn your and your cars limits and even push both a bit. And for $225.- for the weekend, it's probably the most fun per dollar I've ever had!

Here are a few pics. Can't wait hit The Glenn and Pocono's next year

Oliver;
Looks like great fun. What sort of blue is your car? It looks great!

Oliver,

What? No pic of your car being towed back to the paddock? Glad to learn that it was just a cable and you were soon back on the track.

I think everyone loved your little blue 911T. It's a car that you can concours AND drive at DE.

Since I was flagging during your group's afternoon runs, I will testify that you definitely did hold your own out there at LRP. Good job!

BTW, I was the Red '87 Carrera # 522 in Yellow run group.

Ciao!

Oliver and Richard,

Sorry I missed you guys at that event.....wasn't able to make it and looks like I won't be making any others until next season as my schedule doesn't permit it.

Oliver, your car looks great, I met you at the Bear Mountain Run and we had lunch afterwards. So glad you got to do a DE this year. I had no idea that you were in NNJR.

Richard, sorry I missed you too. Aren't you in the Metro group? Hopefully we'll get to meet again soon. How about doing another mountain run fellas?

ciao,

JB,

Yep, I've been a Metro/NY member for 15+years (ever since I first joined PCA). But, I sign up for DE events with different regions depending on how the dates fit my schedule. Last week North Country & NNJR had Lime Rock for three days 9/12-14 (North Country on the 12th & NNJR on the 13th & 14th). So, I had three consecutive track days!

Next week, Metro will have LRP on wednesday, followed by Jersey Shore on thursday (I had originally signed up for both, but had to cancel with Jersey Shore due to a work [yuch] conflict).

I have also driven with Schattenbaum (Central Jersey) region a couple of times this year (very nice group). But, Metro remains my personal favorite.

See you soon!

Thanks Richard. I had a blast pushing it to my limits.

I try to think of the tow as a small speed bump :)

Thank God it was just a throttle cable. After nearly 30 years and its first time on the track, I can understand its breaking. Thanks to Tony Henderson my mechanic and instructer, I was back on the track for the afternoon run groups and returned home without incident.

I can't wait to hit teh track again. next year I plan to attaned as many events as possible. I'm sure Lime Rock with remain a favorite. Big Bend and the Left hander I think are a challange at all levels.

Hope to see you out there!

A great car, a great track. Looks like a great day.

O,

She's a keeper. You're must buy her a helmet for Christmas.

For the smaller displacement cars, LRP is a great track. I think you'll also enjoy some of the other venues you visit next year like Watkins Glen and Summit Point.

Ciao!
