Speakers for 89 3.2 Targa

Does anyone know of a drop-in replacement for the rear speakers on a 89 3.2 Targa? Mine are sounding poor from age. I was able to gently pry off the speaker cover and verified that they are indeed deteriorated. I was surprised to find two speakers - tweeter and woofer. Are they the originals? Any replacements that don't require cutting? How about replacements for the door panel ones?

Thanks and have a great holiday!

Just measured door panel speakers. They are original. 5" diameter speaker. 4" between each mounting hole. 8 ohms. Made in Germany. No wattage labeled. They are mounted on a closed plastic cylinder enclosure inside door that extends exactly from the inside door card to the outside door metal to give a sturdy attachment. Speaker surprisingly looks good visually but sounds pretty bad at increased volume and by today's standards needs serious upgrade. The plastic enclosure has loosened its snug fit over the years making for a flimsy attachment of speaker to the door card. Before I Fat Mat everything and go for a whole new system, I am going to try to re-secure the enclosure. It might make a world of difference. I will post the results when my wife authorizes some play time.

it won't. those are not enclosures but rather rain guards. if you want to improve the response from your soon to be new speakers cover up all the holes on the door panel that you can with your cld.
