Trouble Getting Gauges Back In

After getting my new LED lighting for my gauges installed, I am having some difficulty getting them back into the dash. The gaskets keep binding up as they are inserted. Has anyone else experienced this?

My first thought was to insert the gasket into the hole first and then lubricate it a bit with some dish soap. I wanted to get some feedback before doing it, because I don't want to introduce a problem with the circuitry or anything.

wet style silicone spray. spray a goodly amount on a rag and wipe the rubber.

I used WD40. Worked perfectly and kept the gasket dark and supple.

Please don't use WD40 on the rubber gaskets. They are not compatible long term with petroleum based lubricants. Best is anything silicone based. Even Armor All works.

Thanks! Armor All worked great! Gauges are back in, except the speedo which is in North Hollywood for a week or so...
