Dansk muffler question... Need advice!

This is a picture of the Dansk dual out I am considering. Note the exhaust tip are not in the center of the muffler.

Question: I am now running stock exhaust on my '83 SC with a 1 in 1 out GHL muffler. If I replace it with SSI's and the Dansk pictured, will it be louder? I understand that dual out tends to be louder, but GHL is supposed to be much louder than Dansk. What do you think? Thanks for the help!

I'll let you know when I switch. It is a 6 month old single in-single out model. I LOVE the sound.

I am thinking about Dansk after the SSI's because of the "stock" look. I'll try to pass the smog visual with the SSI's and my boundless faith in the incompetence of others.

i had that muffler on my 82SC...took it off to smog the car

and in your last thread I tried to describe it...

it will sound like a V-8

you will set off every alarm in covered garages...

old ladies in cars next to you will jump every time you blip the throttle

car buffs will swear you installed a V-8 in your 911

you significant other will not be able to hold a coversation in the car on the high way (that may be a good thing)

you will scare ricers...younger kids will think your car is awesome...

some people behind you will make hand motions for you to rev the car at a stop light

all true happeneings

MJ

MAKE SURE YOU GET THE ONE MADE OF THE SC...IT HAS LONGER PIPES THAT BEND DOWNWARD...VERY IMPORTANT. I GOT THE VERSION THAT COMES STRAIGHT OUY (THE PIPES ARE HORIZONTAL...WRONG TYPE)

IT WILL FIT BUT THE PIPES WILL HIT THE BUMPERS. I JUST MODDED MY PRE-74 HEAT EXCHANGERS BUT MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT ONE

Yup....I got compliments on my dual out Dansk ALL the time. It was loud, but not obnoxious. It passed the 90 and 92 dbA sound limits at Laguna and San Diego.

I only remember one alarm going off due to the sound.....

If the sound bothers ya, go with the single outlet. Not sure, but you might be able to add the other outlet later. Or cap one side of the dual outlet.

Pelican has them and they sell them less than the 799 list.

BTW....I still have the used doual outlet Dansk with the custom made stainless 74 style HEs and oil lines for sale.....

Mikez - re. your Dansk.

I might be interested in buying the Dansk? Shoot me an email with photo and price if you can. I'll check out the HEs, too if they're still available.

Thanks

Moe,

I've had both mated to my SSIs, the Dansk stainless steel dual-in/single-out and Dansk dual-in/dual-out. Dual out is louder with a lot of internal resonance. Yes, you will set off an occasional car alarm.

That said, while the single out sounds nice & throaty, there is no appreciable preformance difference over stock. There is a noticable difference with the dual outlet pipes. The engine revs more freely and the RPM zooms to redline. And the exhaust burbles like a turbo. The muffler looks and fits like OEM, but the tail pipes look different (swept straight back like a rocket), so knowledgeable folks recognize right off, that car's been modified.

As noted above, make sure you get the right muffler for your model Porsche.
