air con quick connects

I know, easiest thing would be to permanently remove it but I like it two months out of the year. Is it possible to put quick connects on the hoses, similar to gas lines, near the compressor? This would allow me to remove the compressor for 10 months out of the year.

Not sure if you can find a superior sealing, quick-disconnect fitting for the A/C lines that would also have a compatible O-ring material. The compressor to condenser hose is under very high pressure depending on system and temperature conditions so you'll need something as good as the factory seal.

Why not just unscrew the hoses from the compressor, then remove? BTW, remember to seal the system after removal as the desiccant in the receiver-drier will be permanently saturated if left open for a few minutes in humid weather. Allow your local A/C repair shop to remove the old refrigerant before you disconnect the compressor.

Actually, as someone who sells refrigeration equipment in the foodservice industry, one option that is available on condensing uhits that sit up on top of walk-in coolers and freezers are quick connect, precharged refrigeration lines, so there are couplings that would work. I'd guess that o-rings on an a/c system would need to be looked after periodically, as they may tend to dry out during periods on non-use.

thanks for the replies, I didn't want to discharge and recharge the system every year, thus the quick connects. It appears that the discharge might be the cheaper and easier solution though.

It might take some doing, but Hoerr Racing sell quick disconnects. that you dont have to bleed . they sell them for brakes and coolant, and oil circuits etc..
