considering buying another porsche, but it has no number on the engine case
should I even consider it? I've been told that factory replacement cases came with no number stamped on them. Can anyone confirm this?
|
yup true, unless someone ground off the numbers.
|
If you can confirm that it has never been stamped then a replacement case seems likely. If there is even a hint that an original number has been removed, don't touch it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I feel a lot better about this deal now.I took a metal worker over to get his opinion on the matter and in his professional opinion no one tampered with the cast. There are no scratches of any sort and the surface is completely square and similar in finish to the rest of the casting. I tend to agree, but I welcome your opinions. I took a couple of shots of the area so please feel free to comment.... thankshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401340981.jpghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401341031.jpg

Looks like it may be a factory replacement case mainly as there doesn't appear to be a stamp on the flat by the oil sender like 930/06 or anything similar indicating a type and year/model.

Agreed.

awesome.... looks like this deal will go through.....Thanks again for all your help!
|
I would not make the deal happen unless there were receipts or a paper trail of some kind proving this is a factory replacement case.
Just my $.02 |
