I s there a way to stand off window crake?
I am installing RS America style interior door panels and installed 6 inch speakers.. not thinking of testing if the window crank cleared them or not... guess what. The window crank now makes contact with the new speakers. Is there a spline adaptor/extender to stand off the window crank a bit for a 73.5 911?

I think you have to be creative on that.

Perhaps you can get a replacement grille that has a smaller profile.
Or replace speakers with correct type designed to fit behind door panel and use factory grilles. |
decided to take the "creative" route. One large vise and gentle taps with an 8 pound persuader - a slightly contoured window crank that clears the speakers.
Not exactly Concours compliant, but the interior is looking REALLY clean and sharp with the RS America panels and understated looking aftermarket Kenwood speakers. My original Targa panels and especially the door pockets were pretty ratty. Also, I was missing the top piece to the passenger door pocket anyway and it is impossible to find that piece. |

I'm going to be making some MDF painted black offset spacers to pull the speakers and grilles out of the door about 1/2".
In an all black interior this should be virtually unnoticeable. Passenger side sort of fits, but driver's door has the power controls for the power windows which protrude down into the cavity. I've made a cardboard template already, just have to get to cutting. |

I have to rehab the original top door pieces with new vinyl. They are both cracked where the door lock trim is. There interior has been really coming along these past 2 weeks. I am getting ready to install the front and rear glass. The wiring kit on the floor drivers side is the MSD ignition unit I am going to install at that location. That's next week's project. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401486315.jpg |
