Torn seat...

OK, I did my usual "6'-4" dork fall into my driver's seat" and managed to split the seam between the flat part of the seat and the lower bolster. This, of course, catches me at a time when I do not have the $$$ to spend on a seat or the 300.00 for decent covers. Anybody have any thoughts on a low-buck fix? Can they be sewed?

Thanks in advance...

A good auto upholstery shop can probably re-stitch the seam. It may not look perfect, but at least it will look better. Where in SoCal are you?

I don't know of any in your area, but this doesn't sound like a big deal. You might check to see if the local Porsche club can suggest a shop, or maybe even your mechanic has a suggestion. If not, maybe friends can make a referral. If all else fails....yellow pages. If the shop is competent, they should be able to handle what you're describing.

In addition to selling products, these guys are also very friendly to talk to. See item 2 under "prepping for dye". It talks about repairing a hole but I'm not sure about at the seam. Give them a call for suggestions.

Cheap fix is gaffer/duct tape on the inside of the upholstery to hold it together and the tape doesn't show.
