3,2 Carrera misfire between 2400 and 2800rpm
Hello,
a friend told me about a problem with his 3,2 and ask if I can help him. When accelerating, but only at full throttle, the car engine hesitate and "shoots" misfires into the exhaust. At higher revs the engine runs strong, and when not full throttle everything runs fine... Any ideas? thanks everyone, regards Malte |

I'd be interested in knowing what you find. My 85 pops a little when I'm in the throttle. I'm going to change the cap and rotor and thinking about new wires too since I really don't know how old my wires are. I've read too that they will sometimes pop if you have a catalytic converter delete pipe. Don't know if that's true or not but mine has it and it pops.

Thanks Rick, I think it is a different problem as ours is always present no matter if cold or hot, it is from the first minute as long as you hit full thorottle. -and always around 2500 rpm only. What could make the DME change or retard the iginition?

I had a similar problem on my 87 3.2 and it turned out to be manifold leaks. Significant hesitation from about 3000-4000rpm. Did not find problem until I used a smoke machine to find leaks.

Sounds like a symptom of a failed/failing cylinder head temp sensor (chts)?
