Cat bypass question

I'm ready to remove the catalytic converter and replace it with a bypass pipe. Can I do this without a problem to the fuel injection system msd. I have a 86 targa. Also do I need to replace the oxygen sensor or can I just plug up the hole in the bypass pipe.

you need the o2 sensor but other than that its just bolts off, bolts on

I just sent a message to Steve Wong regarding my setup which would be very similar to yours. I have the cat delete pipe and my car does tend to pop on deceleration and occasionally on acceleration too. Steve said I should look at having the motronic chipped for the new exhaust setup. I have read that when a delete pipe is installed it can tend to cause the popping sound in the exhaust.

I have the 02 sensor plugged into the port in the delete tube.

I installed the M&K catbypass which has a bit of a muffler built into it. There is no popping or harsh sound to it. In fact, it sounds a little lower and more growly than it did before, which I like.
