Well last weekend I changed plugs and the car has been running better than ever. Then it started missing a little in first gear. I found an ignition wire on the distributor that wasnt quite snapped into place. It ran great after I pushed it in.
Then today I get in an it is missing again and I touch the top of the same wire that was loose before and Zap. Holy ***** . Haven't been shocked like that since I touched 220. Well I took off the connector and inspected it . No rips tears etc. It looked like the others. One other thing to note.I didn't change rotor button with the plugs. I was planning on doing that this weekend. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated ![]()

Jerry,
Take that 'problem' wire out of the distributor and loose from the spark plug ... and try unscrewing the wire from both the distributor connector and the spark plug connector. I have seen those crimped screw-on wire ends pull loose from the wire, and that could be the reason for your shock ... you presented a better low-resistance gound return path than the spark plug with an extra gap to jump!

Warren,
I took the plug wire loose on both ends and unscrewed the connectors. Both ends still were intact with the crimp. One weird thing, the plug end had oil on the threads that screw to the connector. I took out the plug to check it but it was fine. I put it back together and it still gave me the same shock on the same wire at the distributor. This must mean that wire is bad, right? I guess my next move is to replace wires. thanks for your assistance

Jerry,
I forgot to tell you to test the end-to-end resistance of the wire ... I'm not sure what the specs are on 3.2 wires, but 3000 Ohms to 5000 Ohns is probably close.
