Question Seeking advice on track/autoX wheels - '69T

Hey there Pelicans!
I've been working on my car for a long time, and you've all been super helpful, thanks for everything!

I've just started autocrossing out here in CA, and I'm loving it. I've made some suspension upgrades, but I've kept it pretty simple so far. Here's what I have right now:

Front:
Torsion bars: 18.8mm (stock)
Sway Bar: 15mm (stock)
Shocks: Koni housings (stock) with koni inserts from a '87 930
Brakes: stock M calipers

Rear:
Torsion bars: 26mm (930 stock)
Sway bar: none
Shocks: Koni Classic hydraulic (stock)
Brakes: stock M calipers

My factory 14 X 5.5 Fuchs severely limit my tire choices. I'm pretty confused by all the various widths, offsets, and availability of good rubber.

Can you please suggest a set of wheels that meet the following criteria:
1. Fits without modification.
2. Has a good selection of track / performance rubber.
3. Is readily available and inexpensive. (like a base Boxster wheel or something)
4. Appearance is unimportant - these will be track wheels only.
5. Anything that will fit is ok - 944, 928, watercooled, etc...

Thanks!

I'm still open to suggestions, but at the moment I'm officially looking for a set of thrashed cookie cutters.

What size rubber?

205s fit well with a narrow body. You could squeeze 225s in there but it might require some camber adjustment in the rear. I have a set of 15x7 cookies and they fit fine.

Autocross, which ain't real racing, is designed to improve your street driving skills. Run what ya brung.....changing wheels will get to be a pain in the ass. Just my experience and I was a Zone 8 champ for two straight years.

There are some considerations to be made.

If you just want to have fun, tires don't matter.

If you want to compete, it gets complicated.

Take some time and see what TIRES others who have long hoods are using.

In autocrossing it's all about tires and classes. I'm assuming that is a PCA autocross?

If you want to get serious, read the rules and decide what class you might want to run in. In other words, what mods have you made that will affect what class you would run in. BTW, I'm not sure what the heck zone 7 is doing right now with their classes!

For wheels, 7 x 15s will probably be your best bet. Anything that fits a torsion bar 911 will work. So forget any newer model wheels. On a budget cookies are your best bet. Replica Fuchs would be great IF you could find 7 x 15s.

205 50 tires are probably your choice. Now you must decide how soft you want to go.

BTW, I change to my dedicated autocross wheels before every event. Not a real problem for me.

Run what you brung looks like this.

The 14" wheels and crazy soft stock suspension were not ready for any kind of aggressive driving. It's getting more fun now.

I'm also hoping to get a bit of track time while I'm near Laguna Seca.
