clutch cable/throttle bellcrank

I replaced my first clutch cable today in my '82SC. It was a fairly simple job and car shifts great again but.....now my throttle is sticking and holding the rpm's too high during shifts. I checked the throttle linkage at the pedal cluster just in case I might of crossed the new clutch cable around the throttle linkage but it looks fine. My question is ...isn't the clutch cable supposed to exit the cable tube in the firewall and go "OVER" the throttle bellcrank and then on to the clutch cable mount on the transmission? I thought the old cable ran over the bellcrank and thats how I mounted the new one. But now I'm not sure. Wayne's tech article on this project actually shows a picture of the cable running over the bellcrank and another with it running under. It seems that the pressure of the cable on the bellcrank could cause the throttle to hang open. Any tips!! TIA
