UP DATE NOV.11 2012 More good news! - especially for the 69-70 P car owners.. My original post OCT 21 - quote: "As we know, these 3.2 VIN decals are no longer available from Porsche. Would anyone be able to confirm what the correct color is of both the border, including all of the fonts? Very much appreciated. - Thanks in advance!" *************************************** ***Time has pasted since I first I first posted this back in JULY...Now into November and I finally found a site that produced a 'mirror' image of an original one in every way. - Happiness IS! A Big thanks to Jaroo23, 86-ssinit and the many others that helped me with all the detailed dimensions of these decal including photo's Your info has resulted in the end product... An excellent VIN Compliance 'mirror' copy decal. I finally found a 'Professional ' shop that would take on the job. For those that 'may be' interested in getting a 'correct' VIN Compliance decal, complete with the correct dot matrix font type that is machine punched for their restoration or repaint job.... Here is their site: decalrestore | decal restore

Thanks so much!.. I'm paying a Pro Graphic artist to make me one up complete with the holes.
Would you happened to no if a '86 is an '85?; the same as as OEM. Your photo's really are excellent - Thanks again! *UPDATE Oct. 21 2012 : I received my new replica VIN compliance sticker on Friday....Thread #14 (Oct 19) has the mock up image that was created as a sample before I purchased it. If you look at JAR0023;s picture above this post -> It looks exactly the same but is black with white fonts. It is genuinely spot on in every detail! If anyone is looking for the 'real' thing - 'wink-wink' it is as good as they get. Here's the link to the site. http://decalrestore.wordpress.com/

I'm assuming silver or black based on color of the car. Looks like the black tag is one part number different. .24 vs. .25. J |

Hi...It's odd how Porsche has different colour compliance decals for the 3.2 's.
It appears that the first two years (84-85) of these 3.2's were silver and from '86 -'89 they went back to black. The main thing is that I now have the right info due to you and a couple other 'Wind Mill' guys help - Good Stuff! Thanks again for Your input. Regards

Hi Martin...I was sent the mock up and unfortunately I had not provided him with the proper color.
He was about to make a move and because I was not in a hurry I told him to get back to me after they got resettled. We are overseas at the moment but will for sure talk to him within a couple of weeks. Try dropping me alone in a couple of weeks and by then I maybe able to send you a picture of the product ect. Have received my new Compliance decal
Hi...... I received my decal today and it is spot on! The detail is genuinely amazing!
The individual who made it for me was very busy at the time when I first approached him, and being that it was summer, I told him that I would touch bases with him in the fall....'Mission accomplished!' Trivia: Porsche did not have a production standard for them, at least not in these years. Here is the difference's that I discovered within these particular compliance decals. 1. Some are black and others are silver. 2. The weight cluster's line position differs depending on whether they are in kg or lbs. 3. It appears that it has nothing to do with the colour as they can be black or silver in either kg's or lbs. Example: The GVAW (front and rear weight) when in lbs requires only 2 more fonts within the complete line. Instead of just adding the 2 extra required digit's on the line and leaving them in the same position as the ones in kg's, they actually place these weight clusters in a different position within the line. 4. The other difference I found was in the placement of the word 'AND' used in SAFETY 'AND' BUMPER STANDARDS ...The word 'AND' can be either at the end of the top line or dropped to the beginning of the 5th line....Who am I to question Dr.ING eh ![]() My decal's colour and format was decided upon after looking at a local Black '86 Carrera that had a black compliance decal that was in kg's. Because I wouldn't be able to take a picture that showed the detail and clarity of the finished product well, I decided to post the 'mock-up' image that was sent to me prior to him going ahead with it. The number of fonts used in this image -17 - is correct but they were chosen at random as a sample. He sent it so that I could see the end product, particularly the correct type of dot metric fonts 'punched' out. The decal that I received is 'very' thin, 'glossy' and of course water proof. The finality of the quality is that it looks identical to an original one!...Happiness is! Price: $125.00 US all up including mailing. He would have made one in silver for me but I opted for black for the reason given. The silver 'appears' to be the same as the one posted on this thread but it's hard to say as the difference is so small. I have never looked in 'detail' at a Compliance decal 'in my life and I assume that nobody else does either eh. Even after looking at many of them first hand, I still would not know by opening a door if one was the right shade of silver or if any on the fonts were in different cluster positions a the line. This image does not show the high gloss. It is exactly the same dimensions as an original. Regards miglenda Here is the link to the vendor http://decalrestore.wordpress.com/ ![]()

A Dot Metric Die -> Flat bed? ...I think?
After months of 'humming and hawing after getting the shocking price - $320.00 - that I had been quoted by two different Porsche dealership's - What a rip!- I finally bit the bullet and order one as the car is basically a 9-10 car. The real disappointment came when after some 6 weeks I got a call from the dealer saying that they were informed by Porsche AG that they didn't produce them anymore for these older models. That's when I spent days/weeks/months trying to find someone to make one for me...So for $125.00 US for one that is identical to the original one... I am more than pleased!

Oops! I made an error in Sun-Coast Porsche's price. They wanted $240.00 which at the time said that this was their cost. Here in Vancouver I was quoted $320.00

I do not see the anti tampering circles that prevent them from being removed?
Most people I have spoken to want that to make it look correct. Maybe the later ones do not have them?

Your right Pete...The earlier ones have what they call a 'kiss' stamp- I don't think that he has the equipment to do that...
