Smaller battery - is there such a thing?

A battery that's available at the local Napa, Kragen, Checkers, etc auto parts store?

Like a NAPA Miata battery? It always worked fine in my 3.8 IROC car.

Try odyssey batteries.

Really? A Miata battery will work? I presume fabricating a tray for it will be necessary.

I have had Odyssey batteries. The first one was replaced under warranty because it died after 1 year. The replacement lasted 3 years. Expensive and short lived.

you can put in any size you want really. My brother has a kids scooter battery in his beetle lol smaller than a lawn tractor battery

Odyessy 680- 15 lbs $100

Dekka- 18lbs- $85

Shorai LFX36- 5 lbs- $300

All will start the car, some require special care and feeding to keep healthy. Some have more reserve power than others and they all need a custom tie-down solution so they won't be flopping about. A great way to pull weight out of a car for motorsport applications but don't expect good results with your 5000w subwoofer equipped car sound system.

Miata battery, really!

I've got two Westco's in my '71, one would be plenty.

I believe O'Rielly's has their own.

I have 2 Miata batteries in my 1973. they are great. Sealed so they don't leak acid. I got one of them from my buddy's auto parts store. Like $80 as I recall.

and yes I ran one Miata battery for about a year once.
